These past few weeks, Y’all, have totally kicked my ass.

Being ill all through April, going to CancerCon at the end of April, and trying to get back to “normal” after Denver, then birthdays and Mother’s Day, I’ve just been overwhelmed.

And it not only shows on my blog but my body and at my house too.

I literally have no groceries. Every room is a mess—I look like a professional hoarder—probably classified as one now. My eyes have gone to shit. I can barely get on the computer or my phone for periods of times before I get a headache or all the letters start blurring together.

I’ve been trying to work on getting my podcast going, but there is so much I need to do before then. My computer has been acting wonky. I need to delete photos and files off my phone and computer and move to a hard drive. I still can’t fit in any of my clothes. My swelling is still there. My hair still looks like shizz. And I still have probably 37 out of 52 chins left on my neck. Oh and I live in Texas so it’s starting to get hot as the devil’s balls down here, and I’m in no shape to be in shorts and blinding people with my white ass legs. Plus I don’t have any shorts that fit me anyway.

So, month of May, you’ve pretty much sucked so far… But hHere are my current feels for this month:

EATING: CANE ROSSO PIZZA

cane rossosThis place is amazing, y’all! Located in Deep Ellum—downtown Dallas—Cane Rosso was named “Best Pizza in Dallas” by D Magazine for the past five years. It serves authentic wood-fired Neapolitan pizzas. And it’s incredible. Another great thing about this restaurant (which explains the name and logo), the owner created a dog rescue group, Cane Rosso Rescue, to do all that is necessary to save the lives of abandoned dogs. More info about Cane Rosso Rescue can be found here. If you live in Dallas, eating here is a must. You won’t regret it! Here’s an appetizer we scarfed down! It was delish!

DRINKS: DR PEPPER

I switched from Cokes… I don’t know why!

HAPPY: TO SEE BECKHAM LEARNING MORE WORDS AND TALKING MORE!

Bex has been talking for a long time now, but his speech hasn’t been near as clear as Brody’s was at his age. However lately, he’s really started speaking more clearly, saying things out of nowhere—new words==and it’s the cutest things ever! That little guy makes me so happy! beckham_lifeoncasslane

LISTENING TO: S TOWN PODCAST WITH BRIAN REED

Wow! This story–“S Town“–is a podcast that’s getting a lot of well-deserved attention and accolades. In the most downloaded audio story ever, host Brian Reed guides us through an extremely captivating true story of his interaction with John B. Mcklemore–a southern man whom he befriends after he contacted Brian about a possible murder coverup. John says he lives in, “Shit Town, Alabama,” a place where nothing good happens and there is conspiracies, rapist cops, and apparently murders that are covered up by the wealthy. As the story unfolds, John B.’s life and worldviews are exposed and we are engrossed in his story and the story of Shit Town. LISTEN TO IT here.

WATCHING: THE KEEPERS—NETFLIX ORIGINAL DOCUMENTARY

This was an interesting documentary. It goes back to the late 60s where a nun was murdered and the murderer was never found. The story dives into the Catholic church and how it tried to cover up the story of the nun’s murder. It’s really compelling and only 7 episodes. It was jaw-dropping and some of it was extremely dark and broke my heart for the people in the documentary. Watch the trailer here.

READING: NOTHING LATELY 🙁

NEEDING: TO NAME MY PODCAST

I’m trying to get my podcast up and going… I have a few name ideas, but I have yet to narrow it down to one. It’s coming though! Maybe “The YOLO Podcast” or “The Yolo Show”… thoughts?

GRATEFUL: TO BE WATCHING BRODY GROW WITH HIS ACTIVITIES (TBALL & TAEKWONDO)

lifeoncasslane_broyellowbeltThis is one of those things that really make you proud to be a parent. Brody is so excited to be taking taekwondo classes and playing TBall, and he’s even going to start Summer Camp at our Taekwondo place this week. (We will see how that goes).

But he recently belt-tested at his taekwondo and passed. Now, he is a yellow-striped belt. He was so excited and proud! He even earned his first medal.

And, although their team has only won one game all season, Brody absolutely loves playing tball. He’s been playing pitcher mostly this season and only has two games left before the season ends! I can’t believe it.

lifeoncasslane_Brody_tballSince this is a sport that Mama and Daddy played, we’ve been waiting for this for such a long time. And, I’m the Mom standing up next to the fence hollering at him to pay attention and to get ready when a player is about to bat. I can’t keep my mouth closed. So yeah, I’m that parent.

But it’s so much fun watching him. It’s truly one of my favorite things to do during the week!
